John Perry is the head football coach at Nixa High School in Nixa, MO In 6 seasons he has led Nixa to a record of 64-11 with 4 COC Championships, 3 District Championships and two Class 6 State Runner-Ups. He has been named the COC coach of the year 4 times. He was selected to coach in the Under Armour all American game this past January. He coached the #1 player in America, Jackson Cantwell, who was recently named the 2025 National Gatorade Player of the Year. John is a certified Mental Performance Coach, as well as, the host of The Never Stop Getting Better Podcast. With a wealth of experience, John has become a sought-after speaker, sharing his insights and expertise at a diverse range of events. He also teaches Mental Fitness & Leadership Skills to businesses throughout Springfield, Mo and was recently named the 2025 Kathy Whitworth Service to Education Award winner. He serves on the board of advisors for the Chuck Wiley Foundation and the Nixa Education Foundation.
John came to Nixa from Pearl High School (Pearl, MS) where he served as the Head Football Coach and Assistant Athletic Director for 12 years. In 2017, Perry led Pearl to the first state championship in school history. Perry has spent over 30 yrs. molding and coaching championship teams. Perry has spent a combined 23 years as a head coach at Kosciusko, Pearl and Nixa amassing 211 career wins. Perry has received numerous Coach of the Year Awards, has led his teams to 10 region championships, has earned 2 south state runner-up finishes, and has achieved 2 south state championships. Additionally, he and his team became only the 3rd school in Mississippi high school football history to finish 16-0 in 2017. In 2018, Perry became the winningest coach in Pearl history with 101 victories.
Perry graduated from Pearl High School (1989), Hinds Community College (1991), and Harding University (1994). Perry has been married to the former Stephanie Brothers of Atlanta, Georgia since 1995. They have a daughter (Haley), son (J) and granddaughter (Georgia).
